Growing up in Catskill NY, I was constantly drawing. I was a fine arts major at SUNY Plattsburgh before getting my B.S. in Art Education from Florida International University in 1979. During my last semester at FIU I took on a supplemental job at IBM which launched a 35 year IBM career. I retired from IBM as a Vice President of Operations and began pursuing my lifetime dream of being an artist in 2015. Refining and developing my skills led me to numerous workshops and ultimately to my teacher, mentor, and friend Albert Handell – his influence and counseling have been beyond words.
My approach in painting is to represent each subject in my unique, colorful, narrative style. I am not trying to just impart information but also construct and communicate a story complete with characters, elements, and settings. In turn, I hope to say something to the viewer, to trigger an emotion, or to spark a memory that resonates on a very unique personal level.
