Being in nature, kayaking or hiking trails, or walking along a quiet street in my neighborhood is my way of healing, my time to meditate, and my inspiration for art. Art is a means of expressing and sharing my life experiences. Life is a gift, an adventure and I document the adventures using my camera. I then take the camera to my studio. My pallet contains the colors of my adventures and I apply those adventures to the canvas.
I paint with acrylic paint and chalk or oil pastels. Painting with acrylics allows me to create textures and layers of colors to bring my adventures to life. I also create movement with the motions of my brush. Pastels allow me to have direct contact with my art as I use my fingers to blend one color into another. As I paint, I watch it evolve. I add details, breathing life into the painting with every touch of my hand. The painting becomes an expression of the emotion I feel about the place. The next color or the next stroke is an extension, not a thought or process, but part of a feeling for the adventure.
