Watch them Jump - Chris Facey

Watch them Jump - Chris Facey

Opening Reception: Feb. 2, 2024, 6-9 PM

Soaring through the air, defying gravity with each twirl of the rope, the young girls in Chris Facey's "Watch them Jump" are more than just skilled double dutch jumpers. They represent a powerful celebration of Black girlhood, a space where self-esteem, confidence, and self-identification take flight. In a world that often tries to diminish their experiences, these girls reclaim their narrative through the rhythmic beats and joyful leaps.

While the photographs capture the awe-inspiring artistry of their jumps, they also offer a glimpse into the diverse world of Black girlhood. Beyond the gravity-defying moments, lies a tapestry of resilience, creativity, and sisterhood. Facey's lens invites us to witness not just the athletic prowess, but the boundless potential and vibrant spirit that lies within each girl.

A School of Visual Arts BFA graduate and an Army veteran, Chris’ self-driven portfolio has created opportunities for his work to be published in The New Yorker, New York Magazine , The Cut & The New York Times.
